Cycling the Sarthe: many kilometres of pedal-powered pleasure

Thanks to the diversity of our landscapes and attractions, there are numerous ways to discover the Sarthe by bike. If you relish long bicycle touring routes, the Sarthe is a must. This timeless corner of France is actually crossed by several essential cycling routes, including the Véloscénie (runs from Paris to Mont-Saint-Michel), the Vélo Francette (La Rochelle to Ouistreham) and the Loire à Vélo (following the course of the famous river). You can also join the Véloroute 44, which crosses the Alpes Mancelles scenic natural region and the Sarthe and Loir valleys. 16 looped routes await you in the heart of the department.
