European Heritage Days in Sarthe: A Rich and Varied Weekend
On the weekend of September 20–21, 2025, Sarthe lights up for the European Heritage Days. More than 90 events are planned throughout the department: guided tours, exhibitions, concerts, and explorations of iconic monuments.
A perfect program for our guests wishing to extend their stay with a rewarding cultural immersion.
Must-see visits near the hotel
In Le Mans, enjoy a rich program at the Museum of Archaeology and History (Cité Plantagenêt), offering guided tours and family workshops focused on medieval urban development.
Entertaining shows and activities are also available, such as circus performances in the museum or the family-friendly “Building Permit” workshop. University districts, modern facilities such as Le Plongeoir, and 20th-century architectural landmarks are also open to the public.
The program also includes a guided tour of the Distillerie du Sonneur, exceptionally open on Saturday, September 20. An original experience offering a glimpse into the world of local craftsmanship.
Off the beaten path
The Sainte-Cécile Chapel in Flée, listed as a historic monument, opens its doors thanks to the Amis de Sainte-Cécile association: self-guided or guided visits, discovery of Romanesque-style frescoes and altarpieces, with a warm welcome throughout the weekend.
Near La Flèche, a welcome stand will be set up on Place Mendès-France by the Tourist Office and the Heritage Foundation, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days: information, brochures, and visitor guidance.
And why not continue with a visit to the archaeological site of Cherré, near Aubigné-Racan? This remarkable site includes an ancient theater, temples, and Gallo-Roman baths, partially accessible during the weekend.
This heritage weekend on September 20–21, 2025, is an ideal opportunity to discover the cultural and historical wealth of Sarthe.
