From the beginning of December, Christmas markets flourish in the Sarthe. To your delight, you will find the stalls of artisans filled with original gifts as well as stalls piled high with gourmet delights from local producers. Chocolates, confectionery and other Christmas delicacies, but also charcuteries and cheeses will help you complete your festive menus and tempt you to join in with impromptu tasting sessions. And, of course, to warm you up on the spot, there will be plenty of mulled wine and hot chocolate. On the weekend of December 10th, head to Fercé-sur-Sarthe for the school student concert and to see Father Christmas, check out Gréez-sur-Roc or Précigné. From December 17th, don’t miss the markets at Ferté-Saint-Bernard, with its many activities, and Cherre-Au with its 60 stalls, its rides and its menu based around grilled pig.
Entertainment for all ages
In addition to the traditional Christmas markets and illuminations, the Sarthe offers exceptional entertainment during the festive period. The little ones can gather at the Fresnay-sur-Sarthe media library to listen to Christmas stories. In Beillé, you can take a ride on the old railcar. Your journey will take you to Tuffé for an enchanting encounter with Father Christmas. He will accompany you to Beillé station to share a convivial snack with you.
